Noa Romana & Deersky - Train To Nowhere EP

The "Train To Nowhere" is what you'd expect, but worthy of mention. Its rhythmic edges and harmonic shifts suggest possibilities for being layered over other material and key-controlled. The sound is functional, rolling and completely devoid of any personality whatsoever. Noa Romana & Deersky knows the ins and outs of his equipment like few others in the underground scene and the EP are catchy enough to make everyone excited or rude enough for to stroke his beard approvingly.

It has the more modern drive that characterizes Loquai's productions, the remix is with wandering bassline that seems to come back to drive its point home helps too. Thrumming with colorful rpeggios, counterpoints that tie the heartstrings up in knots, and stately train chords with an almost perfect track.

Kay-D carefully snipped train sample once again runs the show, though the track's breakdown comes earlier and amps things up well beyond where has to dared to go. The chords, though, reveals just a pinch of his signature glumness, still, the remix pure uplift basically masks the morose.

A crunchy clap/snare sound leads the groove, it's loud but not too loud, reverb-free and somehow exceptionally present—you could almost call it cozy. Franzis-D made a lot of progress in his productions, and the remix it's actually hard to find anything upbeat about the tune, a unilateral brooder. But the skeletal drums move with a fleet step, and the swelling strings explore denser and richer harmonies as they progress.

For the remix of Paul Key favours a more driving beat, dropping the chubby string plucks. This time the snappy train sample is introduced a little later on. At first only a few syllables are heard, with more and more revealed as things stretch towards a noodly breakdown, the remix gets more space to breathe than its compatriots.

Alexander Miguel remix goes at the material like a seamstress shirring fabric; he doubles up on the space voice part, giving the chords a feathered feel that's heightened by layer upon layer of percussion, while a chest-caressing bassline lends heft to the air of heartbreak.

Every track sounds like it almost can contain its joy, "Train To Nowhere" bursts open halfway through, a triumphant synth swelling to an impossibly bright climax, great EP with great producers and definetely that release not to miss it from your collection.
