It’s another phase in the Pharmacy compilation series for you to enjoy as Frost Raven mixes together the fifth edition of the underground label’s biggest tracks…

The Pharmacy Music label has long been a favourite of mine. A label started by Christopher Lawrence back in 2008 with a vision to deliver the very best in underground trance from current, established and fresh new artists on the scene. Since the early releases the label has brought in some mighty talented producers to showcase their music from the likes of Magnus, Sean J Morris, Jonathan Allyn and Fergie & Sadrian. Their flagship collection for all the good tunes they release comes in the form of their ‘Phase’ compilation series.

It’s not just a compilation of any old tunes, oh no, these are all in house Pharmacy beats. Some might say that’s a little restrictive but with the quality of music on the label it is anything but. The last mix was taken on by label boss Christopher Lawrence and was yet again another essential purchase for those who like good trance music. The fifth edition has arrived and the baton has been passed into one of the labels finest fresh new producers in the Frost Raven.

There are a lot new faces on this latest mix which just goes to highlight the surge of talent out there at the disposal of Pharmacy. They have really been ramping up the release schedule over the past twelve months with now almost a new tune bursting out on the label every week. They have so much new stuff; they recently added a sub label with the tech focused ‘Pharmacy Plus’. Where does Frost Raven start then in putting together a mix of the current finest new underground psy trance? With himself of course!

It’s with his own track ‘Becoming Different’ that the energy begins in this mix. Things just go from full throttle to full throttle; there is no lifting off here. It’s a credit to the label that Frost raven only has one track in the mix as he has released some superb stuff over the past few months. There are so many good beats in here. The award for most mad melody goes to Orpheus with his tune ‘Heaven’ which really bends the mind hitting you with some funky bass patterns. Its quite possible one of the quirkiest psy track I’ve heard on the label and it fits in well in getting this explosive mix well and truly popping off.

There are a few well known, or at least by me, artists in the mix here with tracks from Reaky, Ikerya Project and Jens Jakob which has a hat trick of beats featured. Then there are a few fresh names on the tracklist with Orpheus, Microsis and Orbiteck. The collection of records in the mix just shows how rich the trance scene is at the moment with quality music. The Psy style is one which always flutters with the mainstream but always goes back under the surface to the true underground. It’s an underground that artists like the Frost Raven and labels like Pharmacy are keeping alive with mixes and music like this.

On the account of the mix, it’s superb. Blended together seamlessly and really though through in terms of arrangement. They all say about taking you on a journey with DJ mixes and this is no exception. Frost Raven has put in a selection of uplifting, progressive and down right banging beats from some of the labels finest contributors. I don’t feel the need to talk about it much more because I may well be distracting you from checking this awesome mix out.

Conclusion:
This is one serious compilation from one of the best trance labels in the world. Frost Raven is an artist they have put their faith in to deliver and he has with Phase 5. The ultimate showcase for what good music this label has to offer. I would recommend you treat your ears to this gorgeous mix and keep an eye on Pharmacy as their releases get better and better.
